Gloria Govan Recaps Basketball Wives L.A. Episode 2
Gloria Govan is one of the most recognizable faces on Basketball Wives L.A. thanks to her dramatic stint on the first season of the original Basketball Wives. Gloria has agreed to recap this season of Basketball Wives L.A. for the VH1 Blog and we couldn’t be happier to have her input on everything that goes down in front of and behind the camera. This week, Gloria gives us a little more insight into the Malaysia/Laura fight and what’s going on with Draya.
Matt and I decided to take the boys on a family vacation to San Diego for the weekend. While we were on our way down there, I received an upsetting phone call from Jackie. She was crying on the phone and yelling “She just attacked Laura. Malaysia just attacked her.”
At this point I do not care whose fault it was or what happened, I am just immediately angry. Jackie can barely get her words out and my conversation with her is very short. Before I can barely hang up I am texting Malaysia in all capital letters that I am going to “F*@k her up on sight.”
I am very protective of my family (obviously) and to have someone cross the line and get into a physical altercation with a family member is not okay. I was livid that I was not there.
Watching that fight makes me boil inside, it was so ignorant. Both of these woman have a lot to lose and the fact that Tanya just sat there Googling “hood rat” is ridiculous. I wasn’t expecting her to get involved or to throw punches. But she could have easily stood up and tried to stop them. Better yet get out of the way. She looked stupid just sitting there acting like she was too good to help break it up.
Shortly after the fight, Malaysia and Laura meet alone and talk about what happened. I know that the fight wasn’t about what Malaysia said or whatever her real name is. I think Laura had A LOT of pent up anger about everything going on in her life at the time. And when Malaysia said “At least I don’t sleep with other people’s husbands,” Laura saw RED. I think Malaysia being the “new girl” wasn’t going to allow anyone to disrespect her regardless of how much she wants to fit in. Both women apologize for their immature behavior and call a truce.
I, on the other hand, still feel like the line was crossed, and for me it’s not going to be that easy to let go. When I was sitting there with Malaysia and her sister, I was waiting for something to happen. Ultimately we agree to just stay out of each other’s way, obviously she feels like I threatened her and I did, but she was waiting for an apology that she was NOT going to get.
Draya’s party was actually fun, it did start off slow but when it finally picked up,I had a great time. I very seldom get a chance to go out, so when I’m out I like to have fun regardless of anyone else’s mood or disdain. The other girls were just sitting there, barely sipping their drinks. I wanted to dance the night away and have a good time even if it means I have to do that by myself. LOL.
Again, while I’m gone out of town the ladies decided to have a “Passion party.” Now at first I was thinking a sexy little get together to help lighten the tension after the fight between Laura and Malaysia would be a good idea. WRONG. Quite the opposite. A time to tell the other women how they each feel about one another using heavy adjectives probably wasn’t a great idea after all.
Apparently Draya has some secrets, dark secrets. Will she tell the truth and give an explanation about what the girls found on the Internet or is she going to deny the whole thing?

Gloria Your sister started the fight and apologized for it. Your text to Maylasia was a threat and Laura was at leastr mature enough to see her role in this mess and try to prevent the situation from getting worse.
Now I agree with you on Tanya/Tonya, she was right there in the middle and should have made an attempt to stop it or move totally out the way.

I was dissapointed when i saw the first episode. The drama on the show was so unneccessary. The ladies met each other and with in 30 seconds decided who they did or did not like. The oldest women on the show are the most childish. Kimsha is threw and totally jealous of Malaysia and never gave her a chance. Jackie and Imani old ass ought to be ashamed of themselves. The ladies are so judgemental of one another and are a bad reprensentation of black women. I wouldnt of jumped in the fight either.

She didn’t really have any alliances and would probably be the most neutral. Furthermore, she actually gave an opinion– not just a regurgitation of what we all could clearly see with our own eyes. VH1 already does a RECAP, so why do we need Gloria to essentially do it again. Gloria is too biased and she of course doesn’t keep it real. Just like with the miami girlz, Gloria tried to act like her stuff didn’t stink and only after her very public domestic abuse scandal did she come clean about anything. Now don’t get me wrong, I was proud of Gloria for standing up for herself with Shaunee and her lynch mob, but get serious Gloria. YOU were dead wrong to send ANYONE a threatning text for whatever reason and you should have been woman enough to admit that. YOUR sister, not Malaysia, showed her a… at that restaurant. Your sister, Not Malaysia, began with the verbal attacks, and your sister, Not Malaysia, got physical first. Don’t try to excuse it away by saying she had alot going on in her life– who doesn’t. It was the same thing with the miami girls– you were trying to defend your sister against some pretty ugly allegations, but at the end of the day– your sister is responsible for her own actions– stop making excuses for her–stop being so fake, and if your going to recap the shows, do a better job–PERIOD!

OMG…this is by far the worse show VH1 has every produced. These ladies on this show are way too fake for me, with the exception of Draya, Malaysia, and Tanya. The rest of the women on this show are old and jealous at the fact that there are women that look better than them and that has better bodies. I could tell how the entire show was going to play out in the beginning. Everyone on the show claims to be so real but anyone can cuss someone out. These women are showing how ignorant some people really are. Not to mention most of the women are wanna bes and just how they can jump to judge Draya and the others they can be judged as well. Draya and Malaysia you all are beautiful women not to mention YOUNGER than everyone else on the show and I say you all keep doing yo thang! Stand up for what you all feel is right and say f tha rest. You all do not owe anyone any type of explanations for your actions.

This show really sucks I just watched for the first and last time….Gloria your sister is a big girl… LITERALLY let her handle her own business. If you can’t take the heat stay out tha kitchen.

The fight was between those two and if they squashed it then it aint none of your business anymore. This show is whack and so are you all. You should be called Basketball Birds cause you sure don’t act like wives. Jackie and Imani are instigators because some of the things they said weren’t true. Gloria where was all that bravado when you were on BBW Miami? As a matter of fact, you felt it was childish that grown women were acting that way and wanted no part of that ignorance. You said you owed them no explanation on what goes on in your household, and that is true. That truth applies to Draya also. She owes you women nothing. Not one of you is any better than the other.
I do agree, Tanya didn’t have to get involved but she could have moved out of the way or acted like there was a fight going on almost on top of her. But I would not say that makes her a terrible person.

When he push you out his way and theyhe talks to you is abusive. He lost his contract with the Lakers for frist hitting you when was just anncounced then got in fight in a Laker game.. He was an event in LA and got into another fight with a Basketball Player during the Lock out.

I agree, if anybody has to recap, let it be Tonya. She is at least trying to be positive and mature. I personally loved the fact she wasn’t phased to move and jump in the fight and appeared to be saying y’ll will back up offa me with that foolishness! I watch this to keep my mind off my own issues but wish there was more substance to the “portrayal” of these women. At the end of the day I wonder is it worth it to go down looking like an idiot in history or do they even get concerned that their children’s children will see this crap some day. And they say when Black guys go to college and the pros they tell them don’t date Black girls – and this is not a good argument as to why they should…I’m just sayin

So, now you’re trying to justify why Laura did what she did? Um, no. In the adult world, you take responsibility for your actions. If you ran your mouth, shoved someone twice, and then get popped, then who’s fault is that? I can see that the LA basketball wives/groupies/baby mamas/whores are even dumber than the Miami clan.

Her sister realized it and offered an apology. Laura started it and LIFE happens to everyone. You don’t know what Malaysia is facing in her life so Laura’s issues are not an excuse. Again LAURA realized it and apologized. i want to say about gloria and her sister laura, i do not like them. gloria and laura are not even basketball wives, and i do not like what they did to shaunie and i will never watch basketball wives l.a.. you know why gloria felt that she did not owe shaunie a appology! its because she set up laurie and shaquille together so she could destroy their marriage, and maybe shaquille would marry her, but i didnt work out that way. laura is a jump off, a whoe, and destroyer of a family. and gloria is a straight punk, and i do not believe her or her sister derserve there own show, and that is the only reason i will not be watching basketball wives LA, period. my loyalty lies with shaunie o’neal~

How are you going to not let things go?!!…..Sunshine YOU WERE NOT THERE (Jackie DID NOT relate the incident as it truly happened)…and if you watched the tape, Malaysia did not say, “At least I don’t sleep with other people’s husbands,” what she said, was, “I have not been to jail” and “I HAVEN’T slept with other people’s husbands,” the difference in what you said and what was ACTUALLY said was, AT LEAST…those two words are big, to what happen between those two. Now get it right or don’t get it AT ALL.

You and your baby mama sister need to sit down and try to raise those illegitimate children of yours. Most athlete’s are broke after they finish playing so you all need to concern yourselves with supporting those children and not being on television acting a donkey… That is all.

On another note I like the show a little more than the original basketball wives.
Lines were crossed yes…..by your sister. She threw the first punch and was taken aback by the retaliation and whopping that so deservedly followed. Your baby mamma sister, needs anger management intervention. Malaysia taugh her a good lesson, one I hope she’ll remember. You are both classless.
